Memorial day-Honoring our Ancestor's
We had a beautiful memorial day the weather is warming up starting to feel like summer, we had a nice family home evening and talked about the life of grandpa Symes to the grandkids he died the year Trisha and Buck were married. We showed the video "Wanted Gold", that he had made when he was younger in his early 20's an old cowboy movie, it was a fun family night to remember grandpa Symes and the memories he created for us at Bear Lake, also honor of grandpa Wallace my stepdad he was there when Pearl Harbor was attacked and survived and from that experience, he became a Baptist minister,he lived a great life. Grateful for him and his example in loving and caring for our family when we needed someone to help us when Charles and Shelva got divorced, I know my mom misses him every day

It was a quick trip and I didn't want to be sitting in the car waiting on him, I have plenty to do here at the lake, just living the good life, feels nice to relax and have a little bit of time to myself, those days are few and far apart, I've taken the time to update my blog this morning and read my Facebook page.

Beautiful Day
We had such a beautiful day today at the lake the warmest day we've had so far this year. It got up to about 65°, the lake was just calm and beautiful all day, it was warm enough that we wash the windows on the Lakeside, it feels so nice to have them all nice and clean and shiny. Craig and I worked hard today spring cleaning the cabin, my back is killing me when I stand a lot by the end of the day I can hardly walk. Jim Greene and Peter Underline arrived tonight they are riding around the lake with Craig tomorrow morning it will be a 50 mile bike ride for them. I'm staying home.
Relief Society
We had a nice relief society activity last night at the church, it was a pamper night soaking our feet, a pedicure which really was just soaking our feet in hot water and Epson salt, picking out our nail polish and flip-flops, we had to do our own feet, I can't bend over to touch my toes it too hard for me now, it did feel good just to soak my feet and visit with the sisters and get to know more of them in my new ward. Sister Hassee the Relief Society president was struggling when I first got there, I could tell trying to get everything ready to go, so I jumped in and got pitchers of hot water and started filling the tubs individually for the sisters as they came in to help get things started, felt good to be serving and helping out and socializing with the sisters in the ward. After relief society I stop by CafΓ© Sabor and order take out for dinner, Thursday is the special night it's only $5.50 for a meal including a drink which is really cheap. Craig and I can share a meal, which make it only $2.7 for each of us. We had a full day yesterday, I was really tired, It felt good to eat our yummy dinner and crawl into bed for the night.
Family history class
Wednesday I worked in the yard half-day, Craig has been working on our flotation for a dock, I had to help him drag them back from the dump yard and help unload them all. I was beat from our hard work. It felt nice to clean up and rest the rest of the day, I drive to Montpelier to work my three hour shift at the family history Library, it was our monthly staff meeting for May. They asked me to teach a class on how to work on ancestry.com, I was able to show my presentation up on the wall and show them how the computer works on ancestry.com. It was a great class, I joy teaching so much, I love this great work of family history. I'm planning a temple outing on Mother's Day weekend with the older cousins to do baptisms for the dad on Saturday May 13th, I'm looking forward to it, hope that they can all come. I have been working hard in finding family names for the grandkids to perform at the temple.
Warmer Weather
Spring is finally coming to Bear Lake it's warming up here supposed to be in the high 60s low 70s today which It feels so nice Craig and I have been working out in the yard and went to the dump yesterday and got some flotations from the old marina and we are making a new dock to put on the lake we are using the old trecks from our decking and trying to get that all cleaned up, I've been waiting and trying to clean things up in the yard excited to plant a garden this year, I'm going to use some of the flotation plastic boxes as grow boxes, they just getting rid of them, it feels so good to have some warmer weather.

Conference Review Gathering the Family of God
By President Henry B. Eyring
First Counselor in the First Presidency
God the Father wants His children home again, in families and in glory.
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in heaven Ephesians One verse 10
You see, the names “brother” and “sister” are not just friendly greetings or terms of endearment for us. They are an expression of an eternal truth: God is the literal Father of all mankind; we are each part of His eternal family. But we were not sent here completely in the dark. Each of us was given a portion of God’s light, called the “Light of Christ,” to help us distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong. This is why even those who live with little or no knowledge of the Father’s plan can still sense, in their hearts, that certain actions are just and moral while others are not.
Today is April 1. Two days from now, April 3, marks 181 years from the day when Malachi’s prophecy was fulfilled. On that day, Elijah did come, and he gave to Joseph Smith the priesthood power to seal families eternally (see D&C 110:13–16).
From that day to this, interest in exploring one’s family history has grown exponentially. At ever-increasing rates, people seem drawn to their ancestry with more than just casual curiosity. Genealogical libraries, associations, and technologies have emerged around the world to support this interest. The internet’s power to enhance communications has enabled families to work together to do family history research with a speed and thoroughness never before possible.
Many of your ancestors did not receive those ordinances. But in the providence of God, you did. And God knew that you would feel drawn to your ancestors in love and that you would have the technology necessary to identify them. He also knew that you would live in a time when access to holy temples, where the ordinances can be performed, would be greater than ever in history. And He knew that He could trust you to accomplish this work in behalf of your ancestors.
I testify that God the Father wants His children home again, in families and in glory. The Savior lives. He directs and blesses this work, and He watches over and guides us. He thanks you for your faithful service in gathering His Father’s family, and I promise you the inspired help that you seek and need. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Sabbath Day Study, Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy
9 And that thou mayest more fully keep thyself unspotted from the world, thou shalt go to the house of prayer and offer up thy sacraments upon my holy day;
10 For verily this is a day appointed unto you to rest from your labors, and to pay thy devotions unto the Most High;
3. Pay devotions to God by partaking of the sacrament.
Display the picture of Jesus praying in Gethsemane.
The Lord has commanded us to partake of the sacrament on the Sabbath (D&C 59:9, 12). Why is it important to partake of the sacrament each week? (See D&C 59:9; 3 Nephi 18:6–7; and the following quotation.)
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve said: “Windows must be washed regularly to clean away dust and dirt. … Just as earthly windows need consistent, thorough cleaning, so do the windows of our spirituality. … By partaking of the sacrament worthily to renew our baptismal covenants, we clarify our view of life’s eternal purpose and divine priorities. The sacrament prayers invite personal introspection, repentance, and rededication as we pledge our willingness to remember our Savior, Jesus the Christ” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1995, 103; or Ensign, Nov. 1995, 77).
How has partaking of the sacrament been a blessing in your life?
How can we prepare ourselves to partake of the sacrament? How can parents help their children prepare for this ordinance? (You may want to discuss how to help children of different age-groups.) How does singing the sacrament hymn help you prepare? How do the sacrament prayers help you prepare? (See D&C 20:77, 79.)
Why must we be worthy when we partake of the sacrament? (See 1 Corinthians 11:28–29; 3 Nephi 18:29; Mormon 9:29.)
How can we keep our minds and hearts focused on Jesus as we partake of the sacrament?
How can we make the ordinance of the sacrament more meaningful in our lives? (Emphasize that this ordinance should not become merely habitual or routine.) How can partaking of the sacrament strengthen our commitment to the Savior on other days of the week?
On the Sabbath we not only partake of the sacrament, but we also should offer our own sacraments and oblations to the Lord (D&C 59:9, 12). This means we should make offerings or sacrifices that show our devotion to Him. What sacrifices should we offer? (See D&C 59:8; footnote b for D&C 59:12; 64:34; 97:8; and the following quotation.)
Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve said:
“After His mortal ministry, … Jesus told his Nephite Apostles that He would no longer accept burnt offerings but that His disciples should offer ‘a broken heart and a contrite spirit’ (3 Ne. 9:19–20; see also D&C 59:8, 12). Instead of the Lord requiring our animals or grain, now He wants us to give up all that is ungodly. This higher practice of the law of sacrifice reaches into the inner soul of a person. …
“… When we overcome our own selfish desires and put God first in our lives and covenant to serve Him regardless of the cost, we are then living the law of sacrifice” (“The Law of Sacrifice,” Ensign, Oct. 1998, 10–11).

My mother went and lived with them Uncle Dayton and Aunt Ethel, this is how I ended up being born in Cleveland Ohio, my mother went to visit and lived with them, this is where she met my birth father.
