Singing A Solo

Craig asked that I sing a solo this Sunday in sacrament, so I’ve got to start practicing before the family all arrives, I’m meeting with brother Todd Bennion at the church at 11:30 today so I can start working on my solo, I’m singing a song called “Daughter of God” by Janis Kapp Perry,  I love her songs,  I’ve sang this song  years ago for a Christmas program back in 2011, so it’s been five years going on six since I sang this song, I tried to pick something I’ve already sang so I don’t have to work too hard on it I haven’t sang a solo in sacrament since 2011 when Craig’s mom got baptized, was my last solo, can’t believe it’s been that long I just quit singing, it was nice to perform in the sound of music this year and get me singing again, I do love to sing, I’m grateful for this opportunity to share my talent of singing, hope to do more of it this year before I get too old.

Fire Alarm

It is three in the morning, the fire alarm is blaring, we all got out of bed to see what in the world is going on!!! Where is the fire in the house?  I immediately remembered the candle that we had bought and put in Michael’s bathroom to get rid of the stinky sewer smell down in the basement, we had light  it and left sitting on the back of the toilet.  It had caught on fire but it was in Alec’s room, he had moved it in there, it was on fire on his l nightstand by his bed he was sound asleep, when it started on fire.  It gave e us all quite a fright at 3 AM in the morning.  Shannon was able to put the fire out and clean up the mess the wax  had  leaked all out of the jar onto his nightstand. Shannon said there must’ve been too much oil in the candle wax, when it gets all liquid it can catch on fire, I won’t buy that Walmart brand of a candle anymore.

Helping Shannon

Michael with his baby sister Ashtyn
Shannon had left a message on my phone saying she needed her mother. “Mommy I have tried calling you a few time and haven't heard back from you I guess you've been busy with Ward stuff and you're probably doing Christmas stuff πŸŽ„ call me back when you can I am not doing good just needed to talk to my mommy I am at my 😭😭😭F** braking point ... with my pathetic self and life...... I felt we needed to go visit with her and see what we can do to help.  I made Craig take me to the chiropractor  first, my back has been killing me I knew I needed an adjustment badly, it has been hurting me for the last couple of months aching down into my left ankle, I’ve done a lot of standings with all my decorating and it’s been hard on my back,  my back felt instantly much better after my adjustment,  from there we headed out to the Chaudhry family.   Shannon is just having a really hard time emotionally,  her medications have been very frustrating for her,  Her insurance won’t pay for the medication that she’s been taking so they have had to experiment with different types of pain medication to help manage her pain, she’s taking a new pain medicine called tramadol which my mother takes as well so I’m familiar with that one, it does leave withdrawl symptoms when you forget to take it, they also started her on anxiety medicine.  She has been sick and hasn’t been taking her medicine as prescribed & trying to wean herself that”s when it has caused terrible symptoms,  she’s been an emotional wreck the past two weeks.  She told me she know she needs help.   I called my friend Christy Dixon that owns the women’s Renaissance ranch program for addiction trying to get Shannon to go to an appointment yesterday at 2:30 with the counselor there to see what we could do to help her with her addiction to her pain pills I know she feel she needs to take them to manage but there is the addiction problems.  It has been going on for so many years and she really does need emotional support she has so many emotional issues that she needs to learn how to manage and let go of.   I told Craig  I felt like I needed to stay here and help her, he would have to go home without me.  So I’m here at the Chaudhry Family till Monday when Craig’s coming back to Salt Lake.  I’ve had to roll up my sleeves and go to work there’s always lots to do when I’m at their home.  Shannon had started moving Ashtyn‘s things in Landon’s  room and Landon‘s things in Ashtyn‘s old room they were swapping rooms, she started back in October the day we had picked her up to go to St. George and still has not been able to get their clothes in their closets switched around so today I spent the day cleaning and trying to get them organize, those two bedrooms finally by the end of the day I was able to get it done.  it was a big job for me.  I cleaned the bathroom, mop the floor, vacuumed,  cleaned her oven and microwave & put dishes in the  dishwasher.  It has been a full day.   I’m really tired.   I scheduled an appointment at 2:30 yesterday afternoon to meet with a counselor at Renaissance Ranch  for addiction and I couldn’t get Shannon to go, she just said her emotions are too close to the surface,  she needed to keep her self strong and pull together right now to get through the holidays, she couldn’t let her emotions open up,  she can’t function if she does.  She had a terriable  emotional attack with all the stress of Alec over Thanksgiving and then she got really sick afterwards  it’s been two weeks and she is just bearly recovering.  I  told her let’s please try to go, she needs the emotional support right now,  she promised me she would look into it in January sometime when Ryan can go with her.  Being here I can see how much help she needs,  I’ve got to get her in counseling.   She does not handle the stress very well,  she cries really easy and gets angry with the boys easy too.  Her emotions are so up and do during the day.   Landon stayed home from school sick, she was not happy about that, she doesn’t won’t another bug which I don’t want one either.   Being sick for a mother just makes the challenges of being a mother harder, there is no rest for a mother with small children. Ashtyn is so adorable!! Fun to get to spend time with her.  Love all her red curly  hair.  Micheal is home for the holidays and has been a good support to his mother.    He was baby sitting Ashtyn when we arrived Thursday afternoon. Pray I can make a difference while I’m here.

Lincoln’s 8th Birthday

Lincoln 8yrs old on his special birthday, with Grandpa & Grandma Symes
Our Lincoln Thomas turned eight years old December 13 this past Wednesday we drove down from the lake to go to dinner with Lincoln, his parents and his Thomas grandparents,  We all had a fun time visiting. We went to a Japanese restaurant where they cook right in front of you, it was lots of fun to watch.  Craig and I went to play pickle ball at 8:30 in the morning and then from there I had a doctors appointment at 11am in Logan, we decided to just keep driving and come on in to Salt Lake for the day and spend the night since it was Lincolns birthday.   The doctor said that my alarm was probably some type of a fatty tissue that I could possibly be cut out if it needs to be.  I’m scheduled to have an MRI on it in January to see what the growth looks like.   I know it is debilitating my alarm it hurts all the time and doesn’t matter what I do.  Craig and I ran several errands while in Salt Lake before Lincolns birthday at 5:30pm.   Tasha said that he is a big Seahawk's fan so we went to Scheels and bought him a Sea Hawk  blanket.  He loves his blanket and took it to the movies with him with his mom  after dinner, they went and saw the new movie Coco.  Craig and I slept over for the night, fun to visit with our little Annie and Winston.  Lincoln also got a turtle for his birthday the kids are having lots of fun playing with it letting it crawl around on the floor, it is quite a fun site to watch their delight in their new turtle.

Not Feeling Well

I’m starting to feel a little under the weather today fighting a sore throat & headache.   I can tell I’m just not feeling up to speed.  Craig and I got our workout in and read our scriptures for the day.  I’ve cleaned up the kitchen and folded the laundry it’s about 1:30pm.  I have rest my right arm is really bothering me.  I have a cyst that seems to be growing in my arm it’s gotten larger and it’s causing pain in the muscle in my upper forearm, looks like I’m going to have to get into a surgeon and have them take a look at it, probably going to have to have surgery on my arm to cut  the cyst out, that will not be fun.   I notice the cyst last year when we were moving.   It has grown and is causing pain in my right forearm making it hard to lift anything.  I'm going to take a nap and rest this afternoon, need my energy for young women’s tonight, we are in charge of  decorating for the ward Christmas party tomorrow night.  I have a lot of my Christmas decorations I'm taking to the church to set up for the party.  It is a great project of us as young women tonight, I love to decorate.

Sunday Morning Stake Conference

We had a very nice Sunday Morning stake conference.  The theme  was family history and temple blessing in our lives.   I took lots of notes of all the speakers, I did not have good internet in the Paris tabernacle,  I saved my notes yet for some reason it did not save the notes I typed.  I was greatly inspired to strive to do better in our lives.   All of our Stake presidency spoke, along with the Stake Primary President and the mission president and his wife, also the 1st counselor from the Logan Temple.  I love the temple and I have a strong testimony of the great work that is done inside our temples. The temple blesses our lives, our love ones and our ancestors.  President Garmen talked about being more reverent in our Sacraement meetings.  We love President Roberts our stake president.  He gave a inspiring talk at the end of the conference.

Craig is enjoying being in the bishopric and I love being the young women’s president.   It is a lot of work for us but we have the time being retired.  I have spent the day wrapping presents and getting organized for Christmas, I need to get ready for the adult session tonight, I’m really tired, I wore myself out wrapping, my right arm is killing me, I have a cyst that’s growing in my arm and I guess it has gotten big enough that it is affecting the muscle and tendons.  I’m going to have to get it checked it has really flared up this week.

Wrapping Presents

Feels good to be back home I have spent the day wrapping presents from our shopping excursion. we bought three I robots at Costco for the Thomas,Towner, & Chaudhry family.  Tasha told me that the boys were into the Under Armor apparel so we went to Scheels and bought Winston and Yael a matching jogging set and Landon a sweatshirt that has the under Armour logo on it, we also bought Landon in a pair of tennis shoes that match his sweatshirt.  We bought Alec a pair of shoes that he really wanted that cost $85 and his parents will have to go in on the cost with us.  We go half off another pair of shoes so dad got  a pair of tennis shoes for Jude and we picked up an under armor shirt to match his shoes.  We bought Michael a nice pair of tennis shoes and a sweatshirt that looks really nice with the shoes. We bought Jaxon a really nice sweatshirt at the under armor outlet store and a nice shirt to wear.  Jaxon is in to looking nice. I then went to Carter’s and picked out three outfits for the little granddaughters Annie Farrh and Ashtyn.  I picked up Winston and Yale  under Armor sweat suit and a darling little under Armour pants suit for a little baby Enzo and  a couple outfits.  I bought some darling little outfits for little baby Ashtyn.  A beautiful soft sweater with fur on it and a cute little Christmas outfit Shannon said she needed some warmer clothes.   I got Annie and Farrah both a Barbie doll and some cute winter clothes so I just about got it all done, just need to figure out what to buy for the Burbidge family.  Noriega family want money because they are buying a new trampoline for their family gift.  It feels nice to have a jump start on all our shopping being December 2nd.  I went to TJ Maxx and Ross and bought me a few new outfits as well, fun to get some new winter clothes,  I bought some really fun fleece pants that I love to wear in the winter.  I spent several days last week decorating for Christmas at the cabin, coming with the cabin all decorated and our shopping almost done put me in a good Christmas mood.   I want to put up our large Christmas tree this year, bur want to wait until after our Ward Christmas party on Wednesday night December 6th.  I want to use our 8 foot tree to help decorate at the church and then I’ll bring it home and set it up here.  It has been fun to drag out my Christmas decorations I do love decorating for Christmas.

Shopping For Christmas

We left early Wednesday morning to Salt Lake.  Craig and I both had a cleaning dentist appointment at noon, we took Dr. Richard Hughes out to lunch for his birthday, fun to visit with him and get caught up on his family.   After visiting with Dr. Hugh's we went to Natasha‘s house for a little bit we slept over there on Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Craig and I went shopping Wednesday afternoon beginning the big Christmas season this year we went to Costco and bought three I Robot vacuum for the Thomas, Towner and Chaudhry family, we had such a big lunch that we decided not to eat dinner we were going to Fleming‘s downtown to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square but Craig and I were not hungry and my foot was killing me, I could not walk very far so we just stayed home and hung out with the Thomas family.  Lincoln and I drove around for an hour and looked at the Christmas lights that were in our area, Thursday Craig and I spent the day shopping for the family.  We took the Chaudhry family to lunch and visited with them,  Our baby Ashtyn is getting so big!!
Craig and I had fun shopping the afternoon at the outlet stores in Lehi, they were decorated so pretty, for Christmas.  They had the most beautiful Christmas tree In the courtyard of the mall, It was huge a fresh tree decorated so pretty.  I love seeing their Christmas decorations and the lights, we shopped until we were tired about five hours, our car was packed with gifts.  We had only driven our small car so it was full.   We’re trying to finish up as much shopping as we could for the family.  We wanted to buy each person a gift, we have 19 grandkids which is a lot to buy for and the five families. We went to Scheels after shopping at the mall and got a few more gifts for the boys and then I made Craig go to Walmart to buy his Christmas sweater for the ward Christmas party coming up.  We were done shopping by 930pm.  we needed to eat something, we stopped at Taco Time in Draper and then headed back to Natasha‘s house to rest for the evening.   Craig played pickle ball with Garry Mcdougal on Friday morning, while I finished up some more shopping,  I wanted hopping so fun to visit with them.  They were our favorite neighbors when we lived on field point circle.  They were so good to let me hide all my Christmas gifts for girls at their house for over ten years.  It was so fun to visit with them.  I Barely finished up shopping when Craig was calling me to heard back to Tasha house, we needed to get on the road to head home.  The Noriega‘s Burbidge, Thomas families we’re going to the parade of trees at 3 PM, I really wanted to go with them but there was no way I could get Craig to go, I wore myself out shopping so I was fine with just heading back home.  I would’ve liked to of seen the trees and the Burbidge family were in town for a dentist appointment they sold their house in St. George so they are moving back to Salt Lake by Christmas time, they were out looking for condos to rent until they figure out what they’re doing.  I got all our shopping done, we just have the Burbidge family left.

Young Women In Excellence

We had a great night at young women in excellence, the girls all did a great job, we celebrated the birthday of the young women’s program , November 28th 148 years ago tonight.  Each girl dressed up for the fashion of their decade where they highlighted events that occur over the years in young women.  I’m really happy with the outcome!! It was a lot of work.   We arrived at the church at 4pm and it was a race against the clock to get all done.  We set up tables in the hall for the girls to display the things they have been working on this past year.   We had ten girls attend tonight.   We ran wrapping paper down the hall wall and placed pictures from Brigham young in 1869 to now highlighting the decades of growth.  We blew up balloons, had an old time birthday theme in color.   We had apple pie, pumpkin and banana cream pies for refreshments,   It all look really nice.  We received lots of compliments for our efforts.

Sacrament

A return mission speaking: Brother Lincoln.  The greatest gift we can give to our Heavenly Father is to live righteously.   Living righteously blesses all our lives, our community and our families.    It make sa better life for us all.   Thankful this time of year for our many blessings, Honor the Savior this month of December by striving to live the gospel more fully and complete, honor our heritage in the gospel of Jesus Christ, keep our baptism covenant, say a prayer of gratitude for our many blessing, decide today - what  I will do to honor my heritage to the lord.  Thankful for our  Family and our ancestors.  Brother Pegrinee,  talking about the heritage in Bear lake valley .  Our obligation from Heaven to work on our family history.  It was a great sacrament meeting, very up lifting  and inspiring.

Thanksgiving Day

Grandpa Symes with Annie & Farrah, Grandma Debbie
Stacy and her little kiddie's Yael, Farrah Jude and Grandma Debbie on Thanksgiving day
Chad with his darling kids having a great time
Natasha fixing breakfast
Lincoln Thomas soon to be 8 yrs. old in Dec.
We had a lovely thanksgiving dinner.  It was a challenge getting it all ready with family there and trying to cook the last minute things.  It made me really nervous with all the grandkids running around.  Chaudhry family ended up not coming, several of them came down really sick, and Alec took off they couldn't find him.  Shannon had a stress attack which knocked her down for several days with a terrible migraine head ache.  Alec is giving them stress.  He got arrested a few weeks ago for stealing some donuts from Ridley's.   Shannon does not handle stress well.  And they are being sued from the past sell of their home, two years later still having to deal with this.  It is all stressing her out, so sad to say they did not make it up for Thanksgiving.  Towner family did drive in from California.  it was nice to spend time with them for a few days,  I didn't take very many pictures, busy spending time with the family.

They live in St. George for the winter, we went over Friday night and played games with them. I ate way too much food. gained about 4 pounds on our trip.   We bought a new elliptical trainer and I worked out on it today I have got to lose some weight I don’t like feeling this heavy in the stomach. We are getting ready for our family Thanksgiving gathering this Thursday everyone is coming to the cabin except the Burbidge family they are in California at a beach house lucky them.

On Our Way To St George

Craig & I are heading to St. George today to visit the Burbidge family.  They are leaving Saturday for California with the Burbidge family for Thanksgiving, so we are going to spend a few days with them before they leave. They are having a hard time with their move.  Buck is not happy at all.  Trisha called last week talking about how unhappy he is.  They have already put their house up for sale and want to come back to the Salt Lake area.   They just moved there in July.  It is a lovely home but they have got to be happy where they live.  Buck can work anywhere.   He misses being closer to his family.  I haven’t liked them so far away too.  It is a 7 hour drive for us.  See how long it takes them to sell.  They want to come back to Salt Lake just after Christmas.  It will be nice to have some warmer weather for a few days.

Very Busy Past Few Days

Our Thanksgiving dinner at the church with the youth was a great success, it all turned out so pretty. I need to get pictures from Rose I didn’t take any pictures I was too busy visiting with everyone and making sure everything run smoothly.  I made my first video on my new PC computer and it showed very well, everyone enjoyed the evening, our food was yummy from the Bear Trapper, they did a great Thanksgiving dinner with all the works.   We decorated so pretty, everyone just loved it, they thought it look like a wedding reception- so pretty.  Yesterday I spent the morning putting things away from the event and Craig and I cleaned up and drove to Logan for the day, I didn’t go to Family History Library this week, I needed to spend time with my hubby.  Yesterday  I was soo tired, we didn’t get home from Logan until about 4:30pm,  I stayed home for the evening and hung out at our place for the night worked on my projects for  Young Women in Excellence coming up, another big event.  It’s going to be so darling highlighting the different decades in the young women program and how it has progressed over the years.  I’m excited gathering at the different clothing items for the girls to wear the night of the event. I had a slow start this morning I wasn’t feeling real spry and low on energy, I laid around this morning for a little bit, I put a small turkey in the oven to bake.  I plan to take leftovers from the dinner to about four single men in the ward.  I had to hurry and get dressed and go visiting teaching today by 1 o’clock, we spent two hours visiting with Sister Yvonne Spencer. I had not been in her home since June so it was nice to spend time visiting with her, she is a talker.  I had to hurry home to say goodbye to my sweet husband, he was leaving at 4 PM today to go to Moab with the young man biking this weekend.  I’m going to be a lone women for about three days,  I have plenty of things I can work on.  I hurried and gathered up the four Thanksgiving plates had about a half an hour to put it all together, with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn on the cob and pumpkin pie with whipped cream and salad, so it would be a great meal.   Sister Doris Mellor went with me to help me find the locations of those that needed the food.   We took a plate to brother Miller who is about 85 years old living alone and then brother Larry who is in his older years, just lives down the road for me and brother Anderson has been sick and not been feeling well lately and then another man that just had back surgery in the ward, they were all grateful for a Hot meal.  It took us about an hour to make the rounds, I wanted to go to our ward temple night tonight meeting at the church at 5:30 no one showed up at the church so I just went home.  Brother Menlove and Craig were going on the scouting trip with the bishop, so I don’t really know who attended  the temple outing. I didn’t want to drive to Logan by myself so I serve stayed home for the night, took me an hour to tidy up the kitchen from my cooking messes today.  I had to clean the floors from my dear husband who tracked in dirt on his shoes, I’m really tired...... today has been a very blessed day.  It has been filled with service, giving my time to help others, just crawled in bed from a busy day. Thank you dear Lord for all our many blessings,
