Baby Taydom

Such a tragedy this Saturday afternoon Scott was moving their razors around getting ready to go boating and somehow he accidentally rolled over a little Taydom that's only a year and a half old.  They had to rush him up to the hospital, I was devastated when I heard about it, flashbacks of our little Shannon when she got hurt, little Tatum is just so little it's heartbreaking, the Wii morning hours of Sunday they took him to primary children's hospital, he had surgery yesterday and is now in a body cast, his pelvis area was broken, his head seems to be looking good at this point in time, they did say they're watching his liver, his liver is not doing well, it just breaks our hearts, I know Scott feel so horrible being the grandpa and the one that ran over him, my question is who was supposed to be watching him?  It's just such a tragedy can't blame anyone at this point, it was an accident just pray for a little Taydom to recover, he's been such a blessing to Jason and Tracy in their lives.

Monday Morning

Craig and I were able to sleep in and rest a little bit from our busy weekend and week last week. he just left for a bike ride and I'm sitting here trying to update my blog, so many exciting things of been happening, I'm just trying to catch my breath, my new young women's calling is very stimulating and exciting, I need to press forward this week quickly, schedule a meeting with my new counselors and secretary and start planning our activities for the upcoming month, I had to jump right in yesterday after I was sustained, I thought I would have a little bit more time to get up to speed, but no they just threw me in as soon as I was sustained.  I'm the new president! Wow I did not see this coming at this season in my life.

Young Women President

I attended a very inspiring fireside tonight.  I was able to visit with the speaker Jeff and talked about Chance my nephew who was hurt and confined to a wheelchair three years earlier.   He has been such an inspiration to me and gave me his phone number and said to have Chance call him he would love to visit with him.  Craig and I hurried back the 2 hour Drive Sunday morning after Austin was ordained a deacon in Kaysville, so that I could be back in time for our sacrament meeting as I was announced as the new young women's president and sustained by the members of the ward.  I am now the young women president of the Garden City first Ward, a new challenge in my life, it was a world wind after sacrament, the past young women's president met with me and my counselor Cindi she went over things that they have been working on and doing this past year.  We have a lot to learn in order to get up to speed.  After church we were set apart for our new callings, I look forward to working with my counselors and secretary in the young women's, didn't have much time after church I had about 20 minutes to hurry home grab a bite to eat and off to a fireside with the youth in Montpelier a 45 minute drive. the fireside was very uplifting and inspiring Jeff Griffin spoke who has been confined in a wheelchair for over 22 years.  He is a great motivational speaker.  I had heard about him so it was very inspiring to actually meet him and shake his hand.

Martin Harris Pageant

Craig teaching church history this year in Gospel Doctrine, we have enjoyed learning about, we really wanted to attend this pageant this year.  I also have enjoyed teaching about church history in primary, we have enjoyed learning about the church history people that contributed to the growth of the church.   We attended the Martin Harris pageant in Clarkston, Utah- north west of Logan where he lived his final years of his life, a witness to the book of Mormon.   It was a beautiful pageant and play, I was so moved by the spirit standing at his grave site and honoring him as one of the witnesses that saw the golden plates and testified to the world the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

Austin

Our Austin was ordained a deacon today what a blessed Sunday, we are so proud of him, We got up early Sunday morning and left the house by 7 AM to drive to Kaysville to be there by 10am,  Dave gave Austin a beautiful blessing, Austin said that he is grown about four lately, he's had a growing spurt, he is a very special young man, we went to his birthday party last week they had a family dinner, he wanted money for his birthday, saving up for his Lego's to make Lego movies.  He is very talented in this area.  Who knows where it will take him in life.  Lots of possibilities!! We had to rush back for me to be called and sustain in my new calling this beautiful Sunday.

Very Busy Week

I'm really tired today, we've had such a busy week, I attended education week, Wednesday night Craig and I drove to St. George and stayed at Trisha's new house, was fun to sleep in the Casita and spend time with the Burbidge family in their new home.  Craig's mom had a knee replacement surgery on Wednesday morning so we went to the hospital several times to see her, Friday afternoon we headed back to Salt Lake and visited with the Thomas family and headed back to our home at Bear Lake late Friday night.  We had a very full week!! Funny how I sleep, Craig took this picture of me.  Sleeping soundly.

BYU Education Week

I invited my new friend from Bear Lake Gwenda Hansen to attend BYU education with me this past week, we stayed at Tasha's house in the evenings.  We had a great time learning lots of new things.  I felt like my brain was going to explode by the end of the week.   It always gives me a great battery charge for the year and strengthens my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I love attending education week!!

Bridger's BYU Gradautaion

Lincoln, Bridger, Natasha on his very special day

"Chose Joy in life, not just enduring," "Those we teach may not always remember what we say or what we teach them, they will remember how we make them feel."  This was a great thought shared at Bridger's college graduation.   We are so proud of Bridger it has been a great accomplishment for him to graduate in business management from BYU with a masters degree.   I was very honored to attend his graduation this day.
" I am beyond proud of my babe, I'm amazed at all he has accomplished in the past two years!!! We sold our house, then searched for a new one, then remodeled the whole thing! 😅 He started a new Job, I started my boutique and he stared his MBA all at the same time, while still working full time!  It's been a rough couple of years!  But it's also been so amazing, we are so blessed!  And so excited for the future Congrats on all your hard work Bridger Thomas,  I'm so proud of you!!! 😘 @  the Marriott  Center.

My New Calling

Hey Sis Symes! Can you and your husband come in at 4pm to meet with a member of the Bishopric? Sunday afternoon we met with the bishopric I wasn't sure what new calling would be extended to us. To my great surprise they called me to be the new young women's president of the Ward, this is very humbling, never dreamed of being young women's president in my 60s, Bishop Peterson was very encouraging they said they had prayed about it and felt like I was the one that would be able to serve the girls best in the season in their lives, I need to pick my counselors this week and turn the names in by Sunday so they can get the calls extended to them as well they want to get the presidency in place by the time school starts this year.  This is definitely a new challenge in my life, I pray for the Holy Spirit to be with me this week as I pray for the promptings of the Holy Ghost to inspire me to choose my counselors, ones that will best serve the young women in our ward.  There are so many of the women I do not know yet.  I have been serving in primary and really have not been able to visit much with the sisters.  I pray for the holy spirit to guide me in this sacred choice.

My Freak Out Moments

Yesterday was emotionally hard for me. Trisha told me they weren't going to be here for Thanksgiving and then Craig putting all the storage stuff away he did it most it without my help. I didn't feel well enough to do it all,  now I don't know where anything is. I would've rather put away myself so I would know where things are stored.  I just have to dig for things and get familiar with where they are.   I have way too many decorations that I know I'm not going to use.  I'm going to have to get rid of some of them it's just hard letting go of our stuff that I've collected our entire married life.   I miss our beautiful home and my pretty yard, even though it's been nice not to have to work in the yard this summer.  Bear Lake can be very challenging in the summer and I get tired by the end of the summer with all the family here. it's been nonstop since Memorial weekend and that's how it is for about eight weeks of  back-and-forth to Bear Lake. at least this year we didn't have to go home we could stay here for the summer. This hasn't been my funnest summer it's actually been very stressful for me having all the family here, it's so tiring, it's exhausting, I want to keep our family close and do fun things and it is a lot of work, being sick doesn't help, I just had to come in my room and put ear plugs in, close the door and rest for a little bit.  I didn't want to get in a fight with Craig because my emotions are all over right now, up-and-down everywhere, I'm trying to be a good sport about living at the lake full-time. change is hard and re-adjusting to making new friends an a new environment even though we've been coming up here for 40 years of our married life, it is different living here full-time now.   We both miss having our own office and a place to work out and then the convenience of just going to the store.  I feel much more isolated up here and it's not as easy to go places, I have to drive at least an hour, it's just all a big adjustment at this season in our lives I'm trying to be patient.

Our New Cabinets

Craig got our new cabinets all installed in the lower garage when Trisha brought the cabinets for the upper garage to be installed,  again in pieces, Craig spent the week working on them got it all done. They turned out really nice. he got me out in the garage yesterday to help clear out all my decoration piles that I had in the upper garage and put it all in the storage cabinets.  I didn't feel up to the task but I tried to be supportive. he did a great job putting things away. they look really nice.

Kidney Infection

Monday night when I went to bed I felt a slight UTI infection coming on so I took the antibiotic that I have on hand to help prevent it from progressing.  I had a rough night, hurt all night long in my sleep, by morning I felt like I had the flu bug I was so sick.  I went to the InstaCare at Bear Lake and they prescribed a new prescription for me, sure enough I have another kidney infection.   I have been so sick this week.  I was going to go try waterskiing with the Burbidge family while they were her.  I've been too sick to even get in the boat, I've had to just lay around, sleep in my room and rest. to get over this infection.  Not fun to be sick in the summer.

Burbidge Family Arrived

Sunday night Trisha and her family surprised us when they walked in to the cabin, I didn't think they'd be here until Monday night they are staying the entire week for the Raspberry celebration events, this is a fun time to come to Bear Lake, first weekend in August, Sadie brought her friend McKenna that was here in the winter time.  They have been having a great week boating and enjoying the summer weather.   Excited for the Burbidge family they bought a new home in St. George, it is a beautiful home.  I am going to miss having them closer to us. Trisha just told me they're not coming for Thanksgiving this year they're going to California with the Burbidge family again, I'm not real happy about that, I know they had a great time with them last year but we had agreed to rotate Thanksgiving every other year with the in-laws so that will change our thanksgiving plans this year.  It throw off the rotation for our family.
