Saturday morning session: Summaries from Latter-day Saint general conference-president Oaks talk - humanitarian effort-
He said the church has learned from other organizations how to best provide care and stressed that each of the children of God is enlightened to serve.-While each humanitarian organization has its own areas of specialization, we share the common goal of relieving suffering among God's children. All of this is part of God's work for his children," President Oaks said. He gave examples of individuals who saw a need and stepped up to fill it, helping those in need receive education or medical care, and said God is inspiring people of faith worldwide to serve. "These examples do show that God inspires many organizations and individuals to do much good. It also shows that more of us should be recognizing the good done by others and supporting it as we have the time and means to do so," President Oaks said. President Oaks encouraged members to support religious freedom, education, relief from natural disasters and many other good causes and said Jesus Christ can guide church members on how they can best help.
"I testify of Jesus Christ, whose light and Spirit guides all of the children of God in helping the poor and distressed throughout the world.”
From this talk relearned that any good cause is of God - as King Benjamin taught as we are in the service of your fellowmen ye are in the service of your God- as the deeds of evil men increase in the world from War- displacement of many losing their homes and all belonging, also from the nutural disaster of the elements increasing - people lives are turned upside down - we all need to help where we can in the sphere of our own surrounding to help others and to donate to the monthly fast which is used to help care for the needy and the poor- have alt has asked us to care for one another to minister and love all mankind with the basic needs of sustaining our lives. The humanitarian effort is world wide and the needs have increased greatly. We are going to continue to see even more needs in the future months as a world wide famine begins- how do I prepare myself and our family so we can be of service to others in our own surroundings? I pray for the guidance on how I can be prepare better, I know when things suddenly shut down in the spring of 2020- I was in shock seeing this happen- craig and I went to the store and found the shelves were empty- I had never seen this happen so quickly. I realized then I was not very prepared to sustain myself or my family for a period of time. I know I have always been taught to have a years supply of emergency food supply. With us in our retirement years I have become lazy. We had no extend supply stores up - I felt this 2020 shut down was a wake of call to be more prepared and continue to store a food supply that can sustain our family when the need arises- when stores shut down in the future again- I have since strived to do better and fill my storage with things that will help us and give us the resources to serve other too- I need to do more ! I can see that food shortage are on the rise from all that is happening in the world and will effect our own lives too as the effect come to America- the Lord says we need not fear if we are prepared- help me to know how to prepare more effectively- help me to have the spirit prompt me where needed To sustain our lives - we can’t depend on the government - it will come down us as individuals, the family and as a church to help one another in need. It is prophesied turbulent times and it is upon us - each day in thr news the alarm is sounding the tribulation happening in our world and we all are connected to help one another where we possibly can.
2nd Talk given - apostle
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf — Jesus Christ is the strength of youth
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, of the church's Quorum of Twelve Apostles, spoke directly to young men and young women and announced a new "For the Strength of Youth" guide with the subtitle "A Guide for Making Choices." The guide is now in multiple languages online, and Elder Uchtdorf urged youth to get their own copy.
"I always keep a copy in my pocket close to my heart, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards," he said. "It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day."
Elder Uchtdorf stressed that while "For the Strength of Youth" is a guide for making choices, it doesn't make those choices for the individuals reading it — nor does it provide a "yes" or "no" to every choice youth may face.“My dear friends, let me repeat, if the Savior were standing here today, He would express His endless love for you, His complete confidence in you. He would tell you that you can do this.” .."I suppose the guide could give you long lists of clothes you shouldn't wear, words you shouldn't say and movies you shouldn't watch. But would that really be helpful in a global church? Would such an approach truly prepare you for a lifetime of Christlike living?" Elder Uchtdorf said. He added that while rules are important, it's wrong to focus on rules instead of focusing on Jesus Christ. "You need to know the whys and the hows, and then consider the consequences of your choices," he said. "You need to put your trust in Jesus Christ. He will lead you the right way. He is your strength."
This was a very powerful talk of Following Jesus Christ in all our choices each day - let him be our guide- as evil increases in our world and environments that surround us we need to focus on Jussu Christ and what he would have us do and have the courage to act!! Look forward to reading and reviewing the new For Strength handbook for our youth and for us a followers of Jesus Christ. Learning what the truth is for ourselves-

President Nelson’s Messages
President Russell M. Nelson — Overcome the world and find rest
President Russell M. Nelson emphasized his love for members of the church, and said he marvels "at the way you spring into action whenever you see others in need. I stand amazed at the faith and testimony you demonstrate, again and again."
He added that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ "love you" and noted it's "vital" to experience their love as "we are accosted daily by an onslaught of sobering news."
But "so many wonderful things are ahead," he said. "In coming days, we will see the greatest manifestations of the Savior's power that the world has ever seen," between now and the time of the Lord's Second Coming.
The prophet described the present time as the "most complicated time in the world's history, with complexities and challenges that leave many people overwhelmed and exhausted."But, he said, church members can find rest promised by the Savior, as Jesus says "for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
President Nelson said he grieves for those who leave the church because they feel membership requires too much of them. "Each person who makes covenants in baptismal fonts, in temples, and keeps them, has increased access to the power of Jesus Christ. Please ponder that stunning truth," he said.
The reward for keeping covenants with God is heavenly power that helps people through their trials, he said. Church members can overcome the "plagues" of the world and find true rest by seeking and following the promptings of the spirit, and by "repeatedly" embracing the doctrine of Christ.
"My message to you today is that because Jesus Christ overcame this fallen world and because He atoned for each of us, you too can overcome this sin-saturated, self-centered and often exhausting world."
But, he said, church members can find rest promised by the Savior, as Jesus says "for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
The reward for keeping covenants with God is heavenly power that helps people through their trials, he said. Church members can overcome the "plagues" of the world and find true rest by seeking and following the promptings of the spirit, and by "repeatedly" embracing the doctrine of Christ.
"As we strive to live the higher laws of Jesus Christ, our hearts and our very natures begin to change," he said.
He urged church members to "take charge of your own testimony of Jesus Christ and his gospel," and work for it and nurture it, as well as feed it truth. He said miracles will happen in the lives of those who do so.

Conference Sunday Morning - Bednar
Sunday morning session of the 192nd Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City on Sunday.
Elder David A. Bednar – Put on thy strength, O Zion
Elder David A. Bednar spoke about parables being a defining feature of Christ's teaching.
Many parables liken the kingdom of heaven to other familiar things so Christ could more easily teach those he ministered to…"The intended meaning or message of a parable typically is not expressed explicitly. Rather, the story only conveys divine truth to a receiver in proportion to his or her faith in God, personal spiritual preparation, and willingness to learn," Elder Bednar said. He said individuals must use their agency to seek and find truth in a parable. Elder Bednar spoke of the parable of the wedding feast, showing how misguided priorities can lead disciples away from Christ. In the parable, one guest showed up to the wedding not wearing the proper attire even though the clothes were provided for him. Elder Bednar explained this action from the unrobed guest was disrespectful and that he had chosen to rebel against the king. "The man desired the honor of attending the wedding feast but did not want to follow the custom of the king. He wanted to do things his own way," he said. Elder Bednar said an individual may accept the invitation and sit down at the feast but they do not partake because they chose to not wear the garment of "converting faith in the Lord Jesus and in his divine grace." Similarly, people today may say they choose to follow Christ, yet don't partake of the gospel because they rebel against the commandments. He said many respond to the call from Christ but they do not choose to follow the call. "Instead, our hearts, our desires, our honoring of sacred gospel covenants and ordinances, our obedience to the commandments, and, most importantly, the Savior's redeeming grace and mercy determine whether we are counted as one of God's chosen," he said.
Elder Bednar promised that as people seek for spiritual eyes and ears, they will be blessed with the capacity and judgment to strengthen their covenant connection with the Lord.
"We also will receive the power of godliness in our lives — and ultimately be both called to and chosen for the Lord's feast.

Sunday Afternoon session
President Russell M. Nelson — Focus on the temple
President Russell M. Nelson urged church members to follow through with impressions they received during the conference…"Our Heavenly Father and his beloved son, Jesus Christ, stand ready to help you. I urge you to increase your efforts to seek their help," he said. He said he and his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, previewed the new season of the "Book of Mormon Videos" series and were "inspired" by them. President Nelson showed a brief excerpt from the new series, which depicts the Savior's appearance to the Nephites.
"It is significant that the Savior chose to appear to the people at the temple. It is his house. It is filled with his power. Let us never lose sight of what the Lord is doing for us," the prophet said. "I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can."..He said that the Savior is "making his temples more accessible" and increasing the pace at which the church is building temples.
"He is increasing our ability to help gather Israel. He is also making it easier for each of us to become spiritually refined. I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can," President Nelson said…
There are 168 operating temples, and 53 temples are being built, he said, and then announced that new temples will be built in the following locations:
- Busan, Korea
- Naga, Philippines
- Santiago, Philippines
- Eket, Nigeria
- Chiclayo, Peru
- Buenos Aires City Center, Argentina
- Londrina, Brazil
- Riberão Prêto, Brazil
- Huehuetenango, Guatemala
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Grand Rapids, Michigan
- Prosper, Texas
- Lone Mountain, Nevada
- Tacoma, Washington
- Cuernavaca, Mexico
- Pachuca, Mexico
- Toluca, Mexico
- Tula, Mexico
President Nelson urged church members to "focus on the temple in ways you never have before."
"I bless you to grow closer to God and Jesus Christ every day. I love you. May God be with you until we meet again, I pray in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen," the prophet said.
He had announced 18 more new temples to be built. 4 were in the inter city of Mexico City -where there are so many people. This so amazing to literal see the Lamenite nations blossom as arose as they accept the gospel message - which they much be in order to build more temples there has to be members that can attend. It is a witness to me the gospel of Jesus Christ is rolling forth thru out the world. Temples are dotting the earth - he said miracle will happen in our lives as we prepare for the Saviors second coming… President Nelson had to sit down in a chair to address us all. He turned 98 in September. You can see his health is failing- sadly for us all as members. I have such a great love for this project of God. Craig and I both teared up during the closing song and many singing in the tabernacle choir. God be with you till we meet again. Our beloved Prophet may not be with us much longer- with his aging body. With him having to sit in a chair shows his health is waning. He had been a prophet of temple building and helping us prepare for the Saviors second comping. He is a 6th he generation ancestor on my Turner family line. He for sure has the Turner gene I can see so much resemblance in look from my step-father Charles Turner.
