Don Asay’s Funeral

Don our first  bishop in our Sandy ward for 9 years. He served from 1980- 1986-  We loved him as our Bishop and have kept in touch over the years.  He died at 86 years of age.  His wife Jean was a wonderful friend too.  We have lived them both so much.  She planted in me the seed of loving my scriptures even more and how to study them.  We drive down Sunday evening late after all our church meetings so we could attend his funeral-  on our drive on the freeway I-15 we got a flat on the corvette- hitting coming on the road that flatted our tire- we had to call Bridger and Natsha to come pick us up at midnight

Our Vet is Gone

Craig traded his beloved vet in on Tuesday.  I told him he didn’t need to.  We bought a new 350 RX Lexis, trained my Acadia and his vet.  I’m excited for our new Lexis.  It will arrived the middle of Sept.  We did see a really pretty convertible vet at the dealership.  We both like it.  So see if Craig pulls the trigger.  I k if he is going to miss having his corvette.  We drive a loaner car up to the lake on Tuesday after dropping g off our vet at the dealership - I took a picture of Craig saying his goodbyes. He really does like the new model corvette.   We drive the loaner car back down to the dealership today,  Craig needed to turn in the keys and the title for the vet.  We are heading back to the lake in the morning for Labor Day weekend.  Thr last summer weekend of the year.  I spent time finishing g up my cleaning so things will be nice and clean for our last weeken.  Thomas family are coming up and excited to have a family time in their new boat.   Cole and two other couples are coming up for thr weekend too- we will have a cabin full.  Sad that summer is over it all goes by all to fast.  The weather is cooling off at night and fall is coming.  I love thr fall season-  I drive our 2008 lexis down from the lake to pick Craig up the dealership.  We just stopped by boaters outlet to get the Tomas family a new anchor, rope, boating flag and some Bowies for their new boat this weekend while we are in town.  It is a quick trip down and back to the lake tomorrw in enjoy our family.

Our New Driveway

Yeah! our new driveway is complete.  This has been a summer long project.  So happy to have it completed.  It has been something we have been trying to get done for the 8 years we have lived here at the lake fulltime.  Living here we thought we could get it done quicker which has not been the case.  Finally, we did find a cement contractor that would tackle the job for us.  It has taken many steps.  They started in May tearing out the trees on the south side of our home between us and Gygi's.  They hit the main water line and had a few problems along the way but finally got it ready for the footing to be poured on the south and north side of the driveway.  Letting the footing cure for a week they then pour the 10 ft cement wall on both sides.  When they had time to cure- they poured the cement 40X40 driveway. It was all done be the week of our wedding Anniversary June 7th, they were working on it.  It has been so nice to have it done this summer for family to park on our new driveway by the 4th of July weekend.  July was a very busy month with our family coming and going.  By the 4th of July they were able to pour the steps coming down our step driveway.  So nice to have steps coming down to our home down from the highway.  They came in handy when all the Burbidge family members were here for the 4th of July.  They were able to install new railing on the cement walls matching the railing we already have on our decking.  It all turned out so nice.  The 24th of July week Buck came up and helped Craig brick the cement wall on the north to match and tie in what had been done 12 years earlier.  Criag and I were able to pick up the rock a few weeks earlier and have it here when Buck to help.  They both worked hard for three days.  It all looks so good.  Last week Landon was here for a week and helped to lay the paver stones coming down the along-side the steps, So I can place potted plants coming down the driveway.  We need to add a new water drip and decorative rock to fill in the space between the blacktop and cement steps.  It is going to look so nice.  Today Craig and Bridger are working on sealing the driveway and our new cement steps.  This week they were able to lay the blacktop.  They spent all last week getting it ready for the blacktop.  There have been so many steps along the way to get this area of our Lake house how we wanted it look and be much more able to maintain.  It gives us such more parking for visitors and clean up all the dirty road base that tracks dirt and mini gravel into the house.  I love having it all cleaned up.  Craig now needs to dig a trench along the lower blacktop driveway to install a drain to catch the water from flowing into our lower garage.  That the next big project for him.  I want to work on getting the flower bed areas how I want them to look.  It will be work spreading the gravel where we want it.  Back breaking for us both, but thing we can get it done.  Fall is fast approaching.  I have lots of spring bulbs to plant this year that I dug up at the Draper temple this past spring.  They were just throwing way.  This will be a lot of work for me. but so fun next spring to see them bloom.  We still need to seal the cement on our lower deck area and our new cement pillar caps that we had installed in June.  I need to paint all our brown trim around the upper garage area and touch up where needed.  We still having working projects to complete before the fall season ends.  This has been a busy summer getting all this done.  So, Thrilled to see all the progress that has been made this year.

Beautiful August /Thomas Grandkids Back To School 2024-2025 Season

The past few days have been so pretty at the lake.  Monday, they worked hard all day laying the blacktop for our driveway to complete out to the road and down the steep driveway.  It all turned out so nice- it cleans things up. It will be nice to get rid of a lot of the dirt. Craig is out working on a concrete sealer this morning.  It was windy yesterday so he had to wait till today.  Bridger came up Monday afternoon so that he could help roll the sealer.  He also wanted to check out his hunting spots for his upcoming hunt. He drove his boat up so that Craig could teach him how to drive the boat, they went out Tuesday morning for a few hours.  Bridger gave Craig a drone for his birthday present so they’re going to take the time today to learn how to fly it- Bridger is really good at drones. He’s gone through a few of them. They’re not cheap but he’s gotten better at it and he really likes having one. He thought Craig would enjoy it also, very nice gift. Things are winding down for the summer season. There’s a calmness in the air as people go back to their homes and the busyness at Bear Lake slows down. Austin Temple Endowment& 19th Birthday / Aubrey’s Home Coming Talk

This has been an eventful weekend for us as grandparents- witnessing the events in our grandchildren’s lives which are milestones and memories never to forget.  We drove down to the airport early Wednesday morning to greet Aubrey home from her mission- we went car shopping and decided to buy a 2025 Lexus RX arriving the end of September- we sleep over Wednesday night at our Draper home.  Craig had a doctor appointment Thursday morning- stopped by the car dealership to finalize things and drove back to the lake.  We needed to get back up so we could check on the progress of the work on our lower driveway- they have been working all week leveling the lower driveway and getting it ready for blacktop this coming Monday- Friday night we had a wedding reception for one of our YSA members Corey Stock-that was a lovely reception with a great attendance here in Fish Haven, Idaho just a few miles north of our lake home.  Saturday morning, I woke up at 6 AM to make banana brownies for church on Sunday and for Aubrey’s homecoming luncheon Sunday. We were out the door and on the road by 8:30am to meet at the Layton Temple as a family for Austin to receive his personal endowment.  His session beginning at 11:45. It was so special to be in the temple with our oldest daughter and her family.  A very memorable experience for the entire family to be standing in the celestial room together.  Cole and his wife Chase attended and grandma Barbara Noriega along with Aubrey who just returned from her mission and Austin. It was Austin’s 19th birthday and we celebrated afterwards at a fun pizza place. It was really yummy from there we went to the Noriega’s new home and visited and sang happy birthday to Austin. He loves donuts for his birthday treat. Aubrey gave us presents from her mission that were so thoughtful.  We had a very full day afterwards drove back to our Draper home to rest for the night. I was beat. I had planned on going to the bridal shower for Natasha sister-in-law Emma. she was hosting that evening. I wish I had had the energy to go. I missed out on a lovely event. I was just too tired to go. We had a full day, especially with me getting up early in preparation.   Today we left early again- out the door to drive to Kaysville to hear Aubrey speak in her home Ward growing up. It was a full chapel with family and friends and another sister in the world leaving for her mission. A childhood friend Aubrey grew up with. They both gave search inspiring messages.  Aubrey did so well as she spoken and told us about spiritual experience that she had on her mission in sharing the gospel with the people in Paraguay.  She shared her testimony of her love for the savior, Jesus Christ, and that he loves each one of us and is aware of each of us, and our individual lives so grateful for the plan of salvation and that we can return to heaven as an eternal family.  We all afterwards met at the Ponds Park Pavilion and gathered as family eating yummy desserts that everyone brought -I made banana brownies.  We then made our trek back to the lake a 24 Hour Loop.  I’m really tired from my eventful weekend. A lot happened arriving back home-wow! did we just left yesterday morning? The weather has turned off really stormy and very windy.  Feels good to have cooler weather. It was really hot 92° in Kaysville -we were all melting with the heat.  Looks like we are in for a stormy night, but feels good to be home and relax and reflect upon the special memories that were created the past few days.
